The Blue Zones are geographically defined areas around the world where people tend to live the longest. The concept is premised on the understanding that only about 20% of how long one lives is hereditary, whereas the remaining 80% is its environmental factor. People look at these areas in order to gain insights that can help in extending the life expectancy of people around the globe. E.g. in the Blue Zone of Singapore, people live 12 more healthy years than average American.
